How to set a password for a Linksys Wireless-G Broadband Router WRT54G?
My parents have been using a Linksys Wireless-G Broadband Router WRT54G without a password protecting who can use the wireless network. Does anyone know of a website that can give me guidance in setting up a password.

- Sure, just go here and enter the router's details: http://www.linksysbycisco.com/US/en/support
- Open Internet Explorer and type in the address bar: 192.168.1.1 That is the local IP for your router. Make sure your using the computer connected to the router with an ethernet cord. If it prompts you for a password at when your go to the "website", the username should be admin and the leave the password space blank. Then go to the security tab, choose an encryption type (WEP or WPA) and a password. Then save your changes, and restart the router. Hope it works.
- If your parents bought the router new, they would of had to install the Linksys Easy Link Advisor software onto the computer. To find out if it's installed, click Start, All Programs, and look for it. If it's there, click on it and it will open up the program needed to secure the router...it will be listed under the "Actions" Tab. Follow the instructions for "Securing Wireless Network"
