Why does my Netgear Wireless Adaptor keep shutting off?

Heya People, I have a quick question / statement. At home i have my virgin media wireless router running along with the netgear adaptor on my computer, however recently my netgear adaptor keeps switching itself off every few minutes. Is there anything i can do to stop/prevent this?

1. yes, Right click on "my computer" then click on Manage. From there, click on Device Manager. Find the network adapters section, and your wireless network adapter. Right click on the wireless adapter, and click on properties. Under Advanced, you should see power managerment, turn it off or down to the lowest setting.
