How to set up a netgear wireless G router with a macbook, and set a password/make the network invisible?
I have a Netgear wireless G router, cable modem, and a Macbook....I want to set up a wireless connection that is not only secure with a password, but invisible to anyone outside. How do I do this? I don't want to hire tech people to come in and do it for me. Thanks so much.

- You don't have to hire anyone. If you call Time Warner, they'll talk you through it. The info they give you with the modem is a good start for connecting the cables. Some wireless routers will require a special setup to pass the DHCP addresses through them from the cable modem. Once you do get set up, it's easy to make the network secure. Just type in 192.168.1.1 into Safari. That'll take you to the home page for your wireless router. From there you can set up a password for the router and another for the network. Chose WPA2 type password protection,it's a lot safer. Should take you anywhere from 30 minutes to an hour to set up.
