High Speed Wireless Router

Will a high speed router speed up my laptop?

I have a brand new Dell Laptop, and use a netgear 54mps wireless router, if I upgrade to a 108mps router will my speed double?

1. It all depends on what your IP provider has set for you. My provider says I pay for 6MB...but if I go to websites for speed testing, they are all different. I sometimes get 45MB download speeds...that would ROCK. The only true way to tell your speed is to do a continuous ping of a website through your command prompt, My provider told me that anywhere in the range of 35ms to 77ms I'm doing good. that's where I sit.
2. probably not that much. it won't speed up at all if the wireless card doesn't support the newer router N protocall
