High Speed Wireless Router

Can i break the contract of broadband with Virgin media but keep the wireless router ?

I just want to break the contract with virgin media with whom we have a telephone line and cable broadband 10 MB with free wireless router broadband is four 8 pounds a month for first six months. We want to move to another place and we dont want to keep the virgin broadband as dey dont provide full speeds but wanna keep the free wireless router is that possible

  1. were u live i can hook u up
  2. it is very unlikely, however when you move and sign up for a new broadband service, they will probably offer you a router anyway.
  3. First stay with Virgin its faster than BT and the other companies use a BT line and you still have to pay BT line rental on top and they are slower than Virgin. All companies do not give you a guaranteed speeds its only up to. If you cancel your Broadband with Virgin they will want the router back and you will have to pay to the end of the contract.
  4. If you have signed a contract then they are entitled to ask for the Wireless Router back. However, you do have a couple of options. You could ask to purchase it from them - or alternatively you could argue that you initially joined with them for the 10MB broadband, but they failed to keep up their side of the contract as they were not able to provide full speeds - therefore either needing compensation for inability to uphold their side of the contract, or to just give you the router and call it quits. These days it does pay to argue with these guys. Good luck.
  5. There is no point in trying to keep the router as it will be a cable model. If you switch providers then you will have to go with ADSL as virgin are the only cable providers. So you will need a new router whatever. Almost certainly you will be tied to the conditions of the contract so you will either have to pay a penalty fee for early termination or wait until the contract expires and give termination. I would think carefully before switching, ADSL with only go up 8MB and that will be dependent on the quality of the BT line so you may be worse off than you currently are.
